Youth Employment Strategy (YES)

The Government of Canada's action plan to help young Canadians access career information, learning opportunities, and work experience. It provides young people with the information and opportunities to help them get the skills, knowledge, and work experience they need for a successful career. Youth are usually those between 15 and 30 years of age.

Federal Student Work Experience Program (FSWEP)

It offers you the opportunity to grow personally, develop new skills, & learn more about how the federal government works. Studetns can be hired year-round, full-time, or part-time during a non-academic term or part-time during the academic term.
You are eligible to apply if you are a full-time student at a university, college, technical institute or high school and are planning to continue studies in the upcoming academic term.

Federal Public Sector Youth Internship Program (FPSYIP)

Gain experience and employability skills through a 12-month internship at a Government of Canada work site. Of the 4500 internships that have been made available over a three-year period, 50% are for high school dropouts, 30% are for high school graduates, and 20% are for college and university graduates.

Youth Internship Canada (YIC)

This initiative aims to help youth that are unable to get a job without assistance. Contribution funds are provided to private and public sector associations and non-governmental organizations to develop projects, which offer unemployed and underemployed youth positions in their local labour market. Internships provide youth with meaningful work experiences. Participants will be underemployed or unemployed, normally under the age of 30 who have not yet made the transition into the labour market (Wage Subsidy).

Summer Career Placement (SCP)

HRCC provides wage subsidies to private, public, and not-for-profit employers to create career-related summer jobs for students. The purpose is three-fold: (1) to assist students in preparing for their future entry into the labour market; (2) to create incremental jobs that would not have been created without financial assistance; and (3) to provide students with money to continue their education. Students currently recognized as having full-time status and returning to school full-time are legally entitled to work in Canada (Wage Subsidy).

Youth Service Canada (YSC)

Youth Service Canada develops work opportunities for youth who face greater barriers to entering the labour market. This program operated by the YSC participate in community service projects. Under the supervision of the co-ordinator and in partnership with the community partners, participants will benefit from life skills workshops, they will plan, organize, implement, and promote a service that is recognized as being a need in the community. Young people will gain job skills, life skills, and revelant work experience while working with a team. Young people under the age of 30, unemployed and out of school who have not made the transition into the labour market.

Youth Awareness Initiatives (YAI)

Youth Awareness Initiatives are intended to provide financial support to organizations that develop and undertake activities that mobilize communities and heighten awareness on subjects directly related to youth employment. The objectives of Youth Awareness Initiatives are to: (1) Ensure youth and youth-serving agencies are aware of career-related information products; (2) Encourage information sharing; (3) Motivate young people to take charge of their future; and (4) Mobilize and urge community groups to help instill optimism in young people about opportunities available to them and making the transition to the world of work. Examples: Seminars, workshops, and other activities that increase youth awareness of opportunities available to successfully help them integrate into the labour market.
